Most Unusual State "Document" of 2007

The Alaska State Publication Program normally requires eight copies of every Alaska State agency produced or funded publication. Someone at the Statewide Suicide Prevention Council took this requirement very seriously and sent the Program eight pens.

The pens have three sides for easy gripping. On two of the sides it says:

Suicide Hurts. Talk to someone.

On one side it says:

Suicide Hurts. Talk to someone.

While a pen isn't really a state document, the Council has an important message that I hope you will take some time to listen to. Suicide harms many more people than just the unfortunate person who sees no other way out.

We'll be putting these pens out in our public areas. If you've received some in the mail, I hope you'll do the same.
